Happy Valentine’s Day, Benalla.

If you’re reading this and having a heart attack because you forgot, don’t worry. Blooms on Bridge, Benalla is open until 5pm on Wednesday and is ready to save you from an awkward evening.

If you’re reading this online before Valentine’s Day, you have no excuses.

Business owner Mandy Fita said February 14 was its second busiest day of the year, just pipped by Mother’s Day.

And while she has been busy preparing romantic bouquets, Mandy and her staff are also putting some out, ready for those shopping on Wednesday.

“Some of the men, perhaps the women, too, say, ‘Oh my god, it’s Valentine’s Day, we’d better run to the florist and get something’.”

Mandy said she was prepared and ready for a rush on the day, and that Valentine’s Day was always a good opportunity for customers to be creative.

“The wholesale price of roses can double at this time of year,” she said.

“Plus, it’s the middle of summer, so roses won’t last as long as they might at other times of the year.

“So we like to promote some lovely seasonal flowers, and customers can even include a couple of roses if they like.

“Of course, we will have some who specifically want red roses as it’s the traditional thing, and we can help them out, too.”

Long story short, there are plenty of options to show your significant other how important they are.

With an extensive range of products, Mandy said Blooms could also include various chocolates and lollies.

“We’ll have hampers made up, too, or you could get a gift box with a teddy or a candle,” she said.

Mandy said she was currently taking orders and could arrange delivery in Benalla.

“We also have couriers that can go to Wangaratta or Violet Town,” she said.

“If you want delivery or any specific items, we recommend ordering as early as possible.”

For those who may be unaware, Mandy wanted to let the community know that Blooms’ shopfront will close at the end of March.

“Then we’ll have Easter off and will be operating the business from home after that,” Mandy said.

“But don’t worry, the name will remain the same, even when it’s not on Bridge St, and we will still be available for the community to place orders.”

Mandy said she was also in negotiations with a local café to have ‘ready to go’ bunches available.
