State Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell is advocating for the improvement of the roads in the region after receiving multiple complaints from the community.

Ms Lovell highlighted the state of two roads — the C363 Katamatite-Shepparton Main Rd and the M39 Goulburn Valley Fwy — at a recent sitting of state parliament.

She said she had called on the Roads and Road Safety Minister Melissa Horne to order the immediate repair of the road surfaces she had highlighted in her requests.

“The Goulburn Valley Fwy and the Katamatite-Shepparton Main Rd are just two of thousands of roads in my electorate that are in a state of disrepair thanks to the state Labor Government’s failure to maintain regional roads,” she said.

“While Labor cuts their roads maintenance budget, tragically Victorians continue to die on country roads, and I call on the minister to fix these roads now.”

Ms Lovell said it had been reported to her that the road surface of the south-bound lane at the Victoria Rd intersection on the Katamatite-Shepparton Main Rd was uneven, and the north-bound lane near Jubilee Rd was filled with large potholes.

Similarly, people have reported to her that both north-bound and south-bound on the Goulburn Valley Fwy between Wahring and Arcadia are littered with potholes, with multiple people reporting damage to their vehicles.
