In parliament last week, state Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell questioned Roads Minister Melissa Horne about delays to the promised upgrade of the Graham St intersection.

The state budget handed down in May 2022 included $700,000 in funding for an upgrade to the intersection at Graham St and Numurkah Rd as a part of a $3.5 million regional roads investment supported by the Commonwealth.

In September 2022, then Roads Minister Ben Carroll trumpeted the project, which was to include traffic lights.

GV Health is on Graham St, which provides the main access point to the hospital.

“It is important that the Graham St intersection be as safe as possible, but at the moment, it is a nightmare during busy traffic periods,” Ms Lovell said.

“A major regional hospital with a busy emergency department must have simple and safe road access.

“The minister for roads must inform the community when the intersection will be upgraded and when the promised traffic lights will be operational.”
