The recent Jerilderie Public School trivia night was apparently a great success with team ‘MATC’ taking out the first prize, and the ‘Shoulda Beens’ winning the wooden spoon.
Thanks have been expressed to all the local businesses and individuals who provided prizes for the night, and to everyone who turned up and made the event such an enjoyable and fun fundraiser for the school.

In Term 3, Jerilderie Public School students will be preparing for their 2024 stage production, starting with a drama workshop conducted by Mr Ben Stonnill.

The Lions Junior Public Speaking competition is coming up again, with Years 3-6 preparing speeches on the subject ‘My favourite fairy tale or book character’, and Year 5-6 contemplating ‘Who is the most influential person in my life?’.
Jerilderie Public School students will present their speeches on Friday, June 21, before judge Lorraine Comber.
The winners of each division will then represent JPS at the club final, which this year will be held at JPS. Next year’s finals will be held at St Joseph’s School.
St Joseph’s School students will present their prepared speeches in week 8, with the finalists speaking at assembly on Friday, June 28.

Jerilderie CWA held a successful street stall on Friday.
Winners in the raffle were: 1st Heather Magyar; 2nd Faith Bryce.
A big thank you to everyone for their support.
Due to members being absent in June there will be no handicraft. July will be candle wicking to start and make a quilt.
Congratulations to Bev Laughton and Joy Knight for their handicraft items judged at state conference.
Both received high points for their work representing our new group, Murray.
We have welcomed some new members to our Jerilderie branch recently but always looking for more.
If you are interested, attend our handicraft days which are held every second Thursday in the month, 10am for 10.30am and bring lunch.
Our meeting is held every third Thursday of the month in our rooms starting at 1.30pm, followed by afternoon tea. Next meeting will be 1.30pm on Thursday, June 20.
We received more information on the proposed new Medical Centre from our Mayor and CWA member Ruth McRae.
The subject was ‘Loneliness Affecting Everyone’ and it was very interesting to know that 40 per cent of people living alone feel lonely and 30 per cent of people living with others feel lonely.
Daily Living Aids is a program for Open Mobility, which we will feature on a day later in the year.
A donation will be made to Jerilderie MPS for lunch.
Due to power outage in our rooms, thank you to Maree Thomas for hosting our meeting and afternoon tea in her home.
