Motorists are advised to brace for disruptions as a major infrastructure project begins at one of Shepparton’s most notorious intersections.
The Orrvale Rd and Poplar Ave crossing, long considered a hazard by the Shepparton community, will soon see the construction of a new roundabout to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents.
The project, funded through the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program, is scheduled to start on Wednesday, September 4.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by Greater Shepparton City Council to address areas with high accident rates and enhance road safety.
The intersection will be completely closed for about nine weeks, weather permitting.
As such, residents and commuters are urged to prepare for the disruption by planning alternative routes.
Signed detours will be in place to direct motorists, while Channel Rd will remain accessible during the construction period, offering a necessary through-route.
Motorists are advised to stay informed and adjust their travel plans accordingly as the infrastructure project progresses.
