Federal Member for Mallee Anne Webster has accepted a role in the Coalition shadow ministry.

Dr Webster announced on Sunday she would be taking over the shadow regional development role.

“I have humbly accepted this role in the shadow ministry and I look forward to contributing to policy development and leadership through strategic development and investment in regional Australia,” she said.

“As always, my focus remains the needs and interests of Mallee and I look forward to promoting the great opportunities in this region.”

Dr Webster was re-elected to the House of Representatives this year with 69.96 per cent of the two-candidate preferred vote.

She has been the Member for Mallee since 2019.

The federal seat of Mallee covers Cohuna and Kerang in the Gannawarra Shire Council and has always been held by the Country Party/National Party.
