A man charged with attempted murder after allegedly ramming a woman’s car at 100km/h has had more charges filed against him from a separate set of incidents.
The 32-year-old man from the Sydney suburb of Meadowbank appeared in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 11, via video link from a prison cell where he is remanded.
He is facing 55 charges, relating to incidents in November last year and January this year.
He is facing 24 charges stemming from the January 12 alleged ramming incident at Murchison East, including attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, stalking, recklessly causing injury, assault, recklessly engaging in conduct endangering death, and property damage.
At a bail application in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in January, police alleged the man used his vehicle to collide with a woman’s car at 100km/h on Toolamba Rd, at Murchison East, causing it to crash into trees.
According to court documents, the man then allegedly removed the victim from the car, “proceeding to physically assault and strangle” her.
Police also allege the man rammed a second car after the victim sought refuge with three people in another vehicle after they saw hazard lights and stopped.
Court charges show that in the five days leading up to January 12, the man was charged with 18 other offences, many of which involved the same victim, including numerous breaches of bail.
He is now also facing 11 other charges from November 9 last year in Seymour, all involving the same woman again, as well as two charges from November 28 last year.
These included intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, five counts of assault, reckless conduct endangering serious injury by choking a woman until she was unconscious, detaining a woman against her will, and making a threat to kill.
On Tuesday, the magistrate further remanded the man in custody, and set his next court date for October.
