A man was allegedly driving more than 50km/h over the speed limit when he was stopped by police on Friday, March 22.

Cobram police alleged a 60-year-old Koonoomoo man was travelling at 154km in a 100km/h zone on the Goulburn Valley Hwy near the intersection to the Murray Valley Hwy at 3pm.

He was travelling south-bound towards Yarroweyah.

Police alleged the man was also drink driving, recording an alleged blood alcohol concentration of 0.074.

Police said the Ford Falcon sedan the man was driving was also allegedly unregistered and had false number plates on it.

The man’s car was impounded, and he has been charged with several offences including driving at a dangerous speed, speeding by 45km/h or more, drink driving, using an unregistered motor vehicle, unroadworthy motor vehicle, and use of fraudulent plates.

The man will appear at the Cobram Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
