Man arrested for alleged armed robbery in Rutherglen

Wodonga Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after an alleged armed Robbery in Rutherglen on Saturday, March 18.

It is alleged the man entered a service station on Main Street, wielding a metal bar before threatening the attendant and fleeing with cash and cigarettes about 8.50pm.

The man was arrested in Cowra, New South Wales and charged with one count of Armed Robbery on 23 March.

He appeared at Cootamundra Local Court on 24 March and will be extradited to appear before Wodonga Magistrates Court on 27 March.

Wodonga Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for assistance from the public following an armed robbery in Rutherglen.

Officers have been told a man armed with an iron bar entered a service station on Main Street about 8.50pm on Saturday 18 March.

It is alleged he threatened the attendant and forced him to hand over cash and cigarettes before leaving the store.

The offender was last seen headed north towards Douglas Street.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquires.
