A man has been charged with the theft of more than $100,000 of items from 13 burglaries on businesses in the region including Yarrawonga.
Shepparton Crime Investigation unit Detective Acting Sergeant Matt Clowes said police searched a Shepparton residential property on Thursday, February 1.
A number of allegedly stolen items were found at the property, but police say a lot more have not been recovered.
Det Act Sgt Clowes said 13 agricultural and tool commercial businesses had allegedly been broken into in Shepparton, Tatura, Benalla, Yarrawonga and Corowa since November last year.
Among the items allegedly taken were a motorbike, shearing equipment and power tools.
Police allege the Shepparton and Tatura break-ins were all within the past month, including the most recent early on Thursday, February 1.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Nathan Berryman said in the most recent burglary, a green and black Kawasaki dirt bike was stolen from Konigs Shepparton about 4.30am on Thursday, February 1.
Entry was allegedly forced to the Midland Hwy business and the motorbike taken.
The missing motorbike was among the items found later that morning during a search of the Shepparton house.
A 40-year-old Shepparton man will face 30 charges in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.
They include 13 counts of burglary, 13 counts of theft, possessing methamphetamines, possessing a prohibited weapon and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in March.
Det Act Sgt Clowes said many items taken from the 13 businesses had yet to be recovered.
