A man was flown to a Melbourne hospital after a car crash at Murchison on Monday, March 27.

Police said the man’s car was travelling eastbound on Bendigo-Murchison Rd before it left the road and hit a tree about 3.46pm.

Shepparton Search and Rescue and Tatura and Rushworth SES volunteers were called to cut the back door from the car and the pillar between the front and back doors so the man could be freed.

A 22-year-old Leongatha man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital by air ambulance.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said he had lower body injuries and was in a serious but stable condition when airlifted.
