A South Australian man has died in a fatal crash at Wunghnu.

Emergency services were called to reports of a white Hyundai van that had come off the road on the Goulburn Valley Hwy near Carlisle St at about 2.40am on Saturday, September 16.

The driver, a 76-year-old man from Clifford Hill in South Australia, died at the scene.

Police said the van had lights on the roof and investigators believe it may be a pilot vehicle.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

It is the second fatal accident on the Goulburn Valley Hwy this week.

A 67-year-old Katunga woman died in a two-vehicle crash at Tallygaroopna on Wednesday.

The man is also the 34th person to die on the region’s roads, in 36 fatal crashes, since New Year’s Eve.

Anyone who witnessed this crash, or was in the vicinity of it with dashcam, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
