Man knocked into grave in Goulburn Valley cemetery workplace incident

A man was taken to hospital after he was hit by operating machinery and knocked into a grave at Tatura Cemetery on Monday, January 30.

Police responded to the incident where a 45-year-old Shepparton man was knocked into a grave that was being dug.

“Officers were told a man was struck by operating machinery, causing him to fall into a trench in a reserve on Winter Rd about 5.20pm,” police said.

The man had been part of a work team that was digging the grave.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the man was taken by ambulance to Goulburn Valley Health in a stable condition with upper body injuries.

WorkSafe is investigating the incident.
