Police have identified the man who died in a crash at Gooram on Sunday, July 9.

He was a 59-year-old Shepparton man.

The man was a passenger in a duel-cab ute that ran off the road and ran down a 10m embankment on Euroa-Mansfield Rd about 10.15pm.

Seymour police Acting Sergeant Andrew Wright said the driver failed to negotiate a bend and drove across the road, hit a tree and continued down a 10m embankment before coming to a stop.

The ute’s three occupants were rescued by emergency services workers.

The 59-year-old was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver and another passenger were both taken to Goulburn Valley Health by ambulance, but have both since been discharged from hospital.

Police on Wednesday identified the surviving pair as a 40-year-old Shepparton man and a 47-year-old Shepparton man.

The 59-year-old was the 27th person to die on the region’s roads since New Year’s Eve, in what has been a horror period on the region’s roads.
