A Shepparton woman has been nominated for a community service award.

Margaret Quynh Tran has been nominated for the Saward Dawson Community Service and Social Impact Award.

Each year, the award highlights local community members who dedicate their skills and time to address societal needs with innovative solutions.

These individuals passionately tackle challenges, demonstrate humility, dedication and selfless leadership and strive to make a lasting and meaningful impact on their communities.

Originally from Melbourne, Ms Tran, who relocated to Shepparton to complete her studies in dentistry, emerged this year as an inspiring trailblazer.

Ms Tran’s engagement has been exemplary from day one.

She fostered camaraderie among colleagues by organising dinners and ‘learn to cook’ sessions, demonstrating her friendly spirit.

Beyond her workplace, Ms Tran is a dedicated leader in the St Joseph’s Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement, where she has served for the past six years.

From teaching leadership to over 100 children aged 5 to 21 to organising camps and excursions, Ms Tran’s commitment was further demonstrated when she raised over $20,000 to celebrate VEYM’s 40th anniversary.

Additionally, Ms Tran’s commitment to advancing dental health in communities in need has seen her take several humanitarian trips to Vietnam.

She is now preparing for another humanitarian trip to Timor in 2024 at her own expense.

Winners of an award at the 7News Young Achiever Awards will receive $2000 in prizes and a trophy. They will be announced on March 27.

Margaret Quynh Tran is an inspirational figure; her impact on the Shepparton community and beyond is groundbreaking and profound.
