Rochester Town Market will return for the spring and summer season, with the first event to take place on Sunday, September 15.

From 9am to 1pm on the third Sunday of each month, the market will make its home at Rochester Skate Park.

Market organiser Milly Cain is looking forward to another season of bringing local makers and producers together.

“(It is) similar to what we’ve been doing since the start of this year with the Make it, Bake it, Grow it Market,” she said.

“(We’ll have) locally handcrafted items and really high-quality stallholders, delicious food, hot coffee, jam doughnuts.”

Community anticipation has been growing since the last town market in April and the Winter Solstice Twilight Market in June.

“I’ve been getting asked nearly every time I bump into someone either in The Hive or in the street when the market will be up and going again, whether it’s the public or stallholders,” Ms Cain said.

“Everyone’s really keen to return to the Rochy markets.”

The market will host an array of stallholders, from creators and makers to growers and producers.

Ms Cain is hoping district farmers bring their produce to sell along with the food trucks and artisans.

“With the produce heading into spring and summer, our ultimate goal is to be able to have more locally grown produce and to support our local farmers,” she said.

“We will always have our locally made relishes, jams and preserves.

“We’ve got coffee, doughnuts, hot dogs, loaded fries and the Lions Club will be there with their barbecue.

“We have a couple of different (stalls) from the start of the year, and we’re always looking to attract more.”

The market looks to provide a platform for makers and growers in the region, with an offering that Ms Cain believes you cannot get elsewhere.

“The locally made items that we have, it’s just not something that you can get in shops,” she said.

“The Rochester market does have a real focus on supporting those local handmade, homegrown and produced stallholders.

“Our focus will always be on supporting those local makers and growers and would love to see the community supporting in return.”

Families are welcome to come along for the day, with the skate park able to keep the kids entertained while parents can enjoy the stallholder offerings.

Stallholder and food vendor applications close on Friday, August 30.
