The Victorian Government’s 2023 Pet Census showed Victorian households spend $3664 per year on average on a dog and $2134 a year on a cat.

This is a lot of money for most households.

Before introducing Sidney, this week’s pet of the week, the RSPCA Victoria is urging pet owners to get their pets desexed.

Its Operation Wanted campaign is to prevent blowing out household budgets, having to look after unexpected fur babies and the Campaspe Animal Shelter needing homes for cats like Sidney.

Operation Wanted offers 20 per cent off cat and dog desexing to pet owners registered at operationwanted.com.au before August 31.

Now, let’s meet the beautiful Sidney, a domestic short-haired male desexed cat who is three years and seven months old.

Sidney is blessed with a confident and outgoing personality.

During your first meeting, he may seem shy initially, but after a quick scratch on the chin, it is easy to see he is a truly “smoochy” fellow who is irresistibly charming.

Sidney dares to go where others would not dare to try. He is a confident explorer who thrives on excitement and novelty.

But do not worry, this adventurous streak is nicely balanced out with a love for relaxation.
