No man is an island, especially when it comes to men’s health. This prose rings true among the staggering number of supporters at the Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch. The News attended the event on Friday, October 13, to find out what inspired some men to come along.

My grandfather and my Pa both had experiences with cancer. My Pa died from stomach cancer a long time ago. It’s good to be involved. We’re all getting older, and health becomes more important. We sometimes put it off as blokes, but we need to reign it in and prioritise our health. This is an opportunity to make a change.

I’ve been to quite a few. It’s a great cause and a good time to catch up with people, both for a bit of networking and to enjoy ourselves. It can be easy to get caught up with work; these events are really important and a reminder to celebrate life.

Men’s health is important. Our business, Ultimate Fasteners, has a table and supports the day. It’s a terrific cause.

We’ve all had experiences with people with cancer, and everybody is here in support. Obviously, we enjoy the camaraderie of getting all the guys together, and it’s a good thing for the community of Shepparton.

I’ve come along as part of a business, Vic Plumbing & Gas, to network and support the local community. Hosting a massive event like this raises a lot of awareness around prostate cancer.

We have a work table to support the event and the cause. Our business, Vic Plumbing & Gas, sponsors it, so we come every year; I think this is our sixth. It’s also good to chat with everybody and catch up with people you don’t always see.
