Residents of Barrabill House in Seymour had a day to remember when 90-year-old Aide Symons’ son, Melbourne Cup-winning trainer John Symons, popped along with fellow trainer Sheila Laxon and the prestigious trophy.

The Telegraph’s Wayne Herring went along to take some photos.

“There was smiles all round as they each got to hold the three-handled trophy,” Wayne said.
