If you’re in the mood for a trip down memory lane — and a little boogie woogie along the way — this might be just the event for you.

Melbourne-based musical polymath Damon Smith, alongside two bandmates, is set to grace the stage at the Cobram Civic Centre later in October.

Smith and company will be performing the biggest hits from a swathe of musical legends from Liberace to Winifred Atwell.

There will also be music from Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles.

On top of these tributes, Mr Smith will entertain audiences with tales of musical history.

Mr Smith said the piano was once the centre of rural life.

“We will be discussing how important the piano is to communities,” he said.

The musical trio will light up the stage with a homage to the New Orleans piano scene, performing hits by Doctor John and Nina Simone.

Mr Smith will be joined on stage by bandmates Phil Collings on the drum kit and Trent MacKenzie on upright bass.

Perth born and raised, Mr Smith made the big move to Victoria 12 years ago to pursue his musical career.

Alongside the piano and guitar, the talented musician has also written for television and theatre.

With an impressive list of past gigs in his suitcase, Smith has regaled audiences at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, the St Kilda Festival and the Melbourne Cabaret Festival.

The performance will be at the Cobram Civic Centre on Saturday, October 12.

Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
