Minor flood warning for Goulburn River at Murchison

Authorities are warning minor flooding is possible at Murchison on Monday morning, with the Goulburn River slowly rising on Sunday.

According to the advice from the SES, minor flooding eased along the Goulburn River at Seymour on Saturday evening.

The flood peak is approaching Murchison and river levels may reach near the minor flood level of nine metres during Monday morning.

At 10.30am on Sunday, the Goulburn River at Murchison was at 8.10 metres and rising slowly.

According to the SES message, low-lying rural properties upstream and downstream of Murchison may be impacted and farmers should consider moving livestock and equipment to higher ground.

Some locals roads may be closed and camping and fishing spots north of the bridge may be impacted.

The Goulburn River height at Shepparton at 10am on Sunday was steady at 8.77 metres.

The community is advised to stay informed, monitor local conditions and remain alert.

Never drive, walk or ride through floodwater.

No significant rainfall totals have been recorded in the Goulburn River catchment in the 24 hours to 9am on Sunday, nor are they forecast for the next few days.
