Since 9am Sunday, January 7, rainfall totals of up to 40 mm have been recorded across the Broken River catchment.

Heavy rainfall is forecast for Monday, January 8, which is likely to cause minor flooding at Benalla and Casey Weir from Monday morning.

Areas of flooding may extend downstream of Casey Weir on Tuesday, January 9.

Forecasts will be provided for locations downstream of Casey Weir once upstream gauges have peaked.

The situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.

The Broken River at Casey Weir was at 0.50m, below the minor flood level on Sunday, January 7. 

The Broken River at Casey Weir is likely to reach the minor flood level (2.10 m) Monday morning, January 8.
