Jenna Pritchett, a florist of eight years, is Seymour’s newest business owner.
Miss Wildflower opened its doors on Tallarook St on Tuesday, April 9.
“It’s been incredible,” Ms Pritchett said.
“So many people popping in ... so many orders.
“We got very busy. It was more by the walk-by traffic, people popping in, people looking at our giftware and then people grabbing a bunch of flowers.
“It’s just a matter of trying to keep up with that.”
Miss Wildflower offers beautiful blooms, giftware and items that cater to men.
“We sell a whole range of beard products,” Ms Pritchett said.
“My partner has a fantastic beard and he’s very passionate about that, so that idea came from him.
“We’re just trying to give something for the men in town, as well.
“A lot of flowers seem to be more targeted at the females, so it’s nice for the men to be able to pop in and grab something for them as well.”
Ms Pritchett’s new shop offers different services, from flower arrangements — whether you need them on the spot or delivered to your loved ones — to workshops, which will begin soon.
“I think it’s going to be taken really well,” she said.
“Further down the line, we hope to be opening some workshops.
“So we’ll be doing bouquet-making workshops, arbour installations and some flower crown workshops.”
She also said helium balloons for flower arrangements are now available.
Ms Pritchett found her passion for flowers while working at another local flower shop, River Gum Florist.
“Most people would recognise me from either the school runs around town or see my face out of River Gum Florist,” she said.
“They went out there to pick up some flowers, so there’s a fair chance I’ve designed a bunch of flowers for most people who have received some in this town over the years.
“Lorraine (Fulco, River Gum Florist owner) has been very supportive.
“She’s taught me a lot over the years. She’s taught me all of my knowledge that I have for flowers for weddings, for functions, for funerals ... She has told me everything that I know now, so I do have a lot to thank her for.”
Leading up to the grand opening, Ms Pritchett said she had to juggle her responsibilities of getting the shop together and being a mum.
“It’s exactly what I want to do,” Ms Pritchett said.
“I’ve always wanted to be my own boss, and I get to play with flowers all day.
“It’s even better.”
Miss Wildflower is open from 9am until 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm on Saturday, but in the lead-up to Anzac Day and Mother’s Day, Ms Pritchett said she expected the shop to be particularly busy.
“We are expecting a big rush around those times,” she said.
“I’ve got a few extra people that we are employing so that we can keep up with everyone.
“We’ve got more stuff that we’ve ordered, so that will be all set, especially for Mother's Day and extra flowers that were coming in.”
Ms Pritchett thanked all the people who supported the opening of her new shop and hoped to see more happy faces soon.
“The opening day was great!” she said.
“The support from the community was amazing.
“I feel very, very lucky to be living here with such a generous community.
“It has been incredible.”
