Customers were eagerly waiting out the front of the Moama Maccas before 6am just so they could earn the title of first customer served.

The restaurant officially opened its doors on Wednesday, March 15.

With dual drive-thru lanes, six self-serve kiosks and one person-operated till, the restaurant has clearly been built with convenience in mind.

Licensees Scott and Courtney Moller said it was great to see people’s faces light up as they walked in.

There was a steady flow of people entering the restaurant to get a first-hand peek at the brand spanking new establishment.

Day one went by smoothly, considering it’s a completely new environment for the staff to come into — after having trained at the Echuca restaurant.

“We are still hiring and training,” Mr Moller said.

“There have been a couple of hiccups here and there, which comes with opening any brand new establishment but we really appreciate the support of all the locals who have really gotten behind us.”

Mrs Moller said it was nice to be able to offer a different service to the community in Moama.

“It’s been a big journey,” she said, when speaking about watching the site turn from a patch of dirt into a fully fledged restaurant with customers now able to order.

Piper Hutson, 12, and her dad were the first family to cruise through the drive-thru and be served a hot meal, about 6am.

She was ecstatic her dad woke her up to be one of the first customers, a feat she is sure to remember for a long time coming.

The restaurant has a look that is so modern, fresh and stylish that it instantly shoots down the misconception that fast food restaurants couldn’t possibly look sophisticated.

Take a look for yourself on Saturday, March 25, at the Moama McDonald’s grand opening.

It’s bound to be a real family event, with a giant dinosaur display to be held for children from noon.

It is one of the only McDonald’s restaurants to sell chocolate soft serves, which are definitely worth a try.
