New data reveals that ambulance response times for Code One emergencies are improving in the Moira Shire.

Code One emergencies are classified by Ambulance Victoria as responses that require lights and sirens and include life-threatening situations.

The recent data, which spans January to the end of March 2024, shows that 50-60 per cent of Code One responses within Moira Shire are met within 15 minutes.

This ranks the shire higher than Indigo and Strathbogie, yet lower than Greater Shepparton, Benalla, Campaspe and Wangaratta.

Broken down, the average wait for an ambulance during a Code One emergency is 18.34 minutes, compared to 19.23 minutes at the same time last year.

It's important to note that Moira Shire includes both densely and sparsely populated areas and some of these can be a considerable distance from main centres.

Response times for Code Two emergencies in Moira Shire between January and March are also improving.

Code Two incidents are classified as acute and time-sensitive, but do not require a lights and sirens response.

The average wait time for those classified as a Code Two emergency was 45.04 minutes.

In comparison, it was a 46.41 minute wait at the same time last year.

However, despite improvements in Code Two response times, they remain slower than those in neighbouring LGAs.
