Moira Shire Council has launched a competition to design a new logo for the Moira Youth Facebook and Instagram accounts, with vouchers worth up to $150 to be won.
Participants must be between the ages of 12 and 25 to enter.
Entries close on September 30, with judging to be conducted by a panel from the council.
There will be prizes for first place and runner-up, and a prize for the most uniquely made entry.
To enter, participants have been asked to fill in an online form on council’s website and then upload their logo.
Winners will be contacted via the contact details given on the entry form and the prizes must be taken as offered and are not transferable.
Council youth development officer Taylar Anderson said the competition was a great opportunity for young people of the region to make a difference.
“It’s a great chance to show the community their skills and be involved in the Moira Youth program,” she said.
According to Ms Anderson, the logo competition was an initiative by local youths who gave feedback to council about wanting to see more competitions, as well as a chance to get more involved in local issues.
It is also part of the greater Youthfest, a state government initiative that celebrates youth in Victoria.
As part of the Youthfest, councils and local organisations across the state were given grants to fund activities targeting younger people.
Council has been putting a greater emphasis on youth involvement, and alongside the logo competition will be holding an underage disco called HOLIDAYZE for 12- to 17-year-olds at the Gasworks Bar and Kitchen in Cobram.
The disco will be held on Friday, September 22 to coincide with school holidays and will run from 6pm to 9pm.
Cost of entry to the drug-, alochol- and vaping-free event will be $5.
