The Monaro State Titles are coming to Seymour on Sunday, November 26.
Monaro Club Victoria vice-president Peter Keley said although the event was a competition, it was also family-oriented.
Car enthusiasts and the general public can check out classic cars, especially the Holden Monaro.
“It’s really an opportunity for enthusiasts and lovers of the Monaro vehicle to come out and display their vehicles,” Mr Keley said.
The event expects 120 vehicles to be a part of the competition from the Monaro series, including those in original condition to restored vehicles.
“It’s the first Australian-made car in 1948,” he said.
“The Monaro was first introduced to the Australian market in 1968, then went through a number of updates and new models.”
Holden stopped manufacturing the Monaro in 1979, then relaunched it in 2000 to 2004.
Holden Monaro is considered a classic car but is not made any more.
“They were a unique Australian design,” Mr Keley said.
“It (Monaro cars) competed in late 60s motorsports event and won a number of major races including Bathurst 500.
“It’s a very iconic vehicle!”
The titles will be held at Kings Park in Tallarook St.
Monaro vehicles can be entered in the competition for entry, but people are welcome to display any classic cars.
“We have a number of experts on the club that will be judging all the vehicles in there,” Mr Keley said.
“They have quite an extensive checklist.
“They’ll be checking the condition of the vehicle, the features, and determining the lucky recipients in each category.”
The titles are held every two years at a different venue, so more people and communities can interact with the competition and display.
“We picked Seymour’s Kings Park because the facility is just magnificent,” he said.
“The way the grounds are kept, the very defined paths, great car parking.
“It’s just a fabulous facility.”
Mr Keley said the Kings Parks Committee was extraordinarily welcoming and enthusiastic to have them, which made all the difference.
The event will be a car show, food vendors, the local CFA, and the SES, so he encourages everyone to come along.
“The SES will be putting on a demonstration of how they rescue people from a crashed vehicle,” he said.
“They also have a jumping castle for kids.”
The Monaro State Titles will be on Sunday, November 26 from 8am to 1pm.
Guests can purchase tickets for the event on the day.
