Greater Shepparton Youth Fest 2024 is in full swing, with an exciting line-up of events ahead.
Formerly known as Victorian Youth Week, this year’s festival has been revamped into a month-long celebration of youth-focused and youth-led activities, targeted at people aged 12 to 25 years.
Among the upcoming highlights is a council-led event on Sunday, September 29 at the Shepparton Skate Park.
This event will feature a BMX, skate, and scoot competition, as well as a ‘Deadly Deks’ art workshop where participants can get creative and paint their skateboard decks with First Nations artist Tammy Lee Atkinson.
Other exciting things on the radar include the Shepparton Queer Film Jamboree, a week-long event perfect for the movie lovers among us.
From The Fellowship of the Ring to Paranorman to a ten-hour Twilight marathon, there is something showing for everyone.
Those with a creative itch can join Shepparton artist Tone Train for the ‘Make Bad Art’ workshop, or lean to turn scraps into art with Brazilian street artist Bula Temporaria and his ‘Recycled Art’ workshop.
There is also a roller disco, a glow stick party, free skateboarding lessons, and more.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali encouraged the community to get involved to take advantage of the exciting events still to come.
“Greater Shepparton Youth Fest 2024 is a great opportunity to engage young people in a variety of events and activities,” he said.
“We are proud to support Youth Fest, which promotes social connectedness and supports the physical, mental health and wellbeing of young people.
“With many more activities still to come, we encourage everyone to join in the celebrations.”
Festival partners include the Greater Shepparton Youth Organisations Network, GV Libraries, Freeza, the Victorian Government and various council departments.
