The Victorian Government has announced that the Multicultural Festivals and Events Program will continue.

In the latest funding round, 116 organisations shared in a pool of $960,000 to hold multicultural community events.

The Shepparton Arts Festival received funding to host Converge on the Goulburn on March 17 and 18, 2023.

Converge on the Goulburn is an annual celebration of Shepparton’s First Nations and multicultural communities, which includes music and dance, authentic cultural and culinary events, and kids’ activities.

On Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13, Converge will return to Victoria Park Lake.

Applications for the current round opened on March 13.

They will close on April 19, focusing on supporting new and emerging communities, including those with high numbers of refugees and individuals in humanitarian need.

Applicants can apply for up to $50,000 in funding for events delivered between July 1 and December 31.

Victorian Multicultural Affairs Minister Ingrid Stitt said the government was proud to support so many multicultural and multifaith communities across the state annually.

“Cultural celebrations are a way for Victorians to take part in events that foster understanding and appreciation for all communities, and they are a powerful contribution to Victoria’s richly diverse multicultural landscape,” she said.
