From December 4, passengers travelling between Echuca and Melbourne will experience improved convenience as a result of the introduction of two new return weekday train services.

A spokesperson from the Department of Transport said Echuca residents and visitors would benefit greatly from the increase of train services.

“The extra services have been made possible by the Bendigo and Echuca line upgrade and will improve connectivity to regional Victoria,” the spokesperson said.

Track upgrades between Epsom and the new Goornong Station have increased the maximum train speed from 80km/h to 130km/h therefore reducing travel time to and from Echuca.

There has been no change to current weekend services. Two return trains between Melbourne and Echuca on Saturdays and Sundays.

Timetables and more information are available from ptv.vic.gov.au, vline.com.au and PTV’s journey planner app.
