Motorist driving allegedly stolen car when pulled over by police

A man in an allegedly stolen car was stopped by police at Wyuna on Sunday, March 31.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Jessica Williams said police detected a white Volkswagen Touareg allegedly travelling above the speed limit on the Murray Valley Hwy at Wyuna about 9.30am.

When police pulled over the SUV, they discovered it had been reported as stolen during an alleged aggravated burglary at Benalla between Thursday, March 28 and Friday, March 29, Det Sen Constable Williams said.

A 35-year-old man from the Melbourne suburb of Altona Meadows is facing nine charges, including theft of a vehicle, aggravated burglary, handling stolen goods, possessing the proceeds of crime, unlicensed driving and other traffic-related charges.
