Murray Primary Health Network released its annual Report to the Community this week.

The report is a review of the year, which gives the organisation an opportunity to highlight some of the primary healthcare activities commissioned and co-ordinated in 2023.

According to the report, the company’s total revenue reached an all-time high of $68 million, compared with $25 million in its first year of operation.

Of that, 73 per cent of all funding was delivered in commissioned primary care services, while remaining funding supported Murray PHN’s work in co-ordination and capacity building across its catchment.

According to the report, funding by Murray PHN went towards activities such as:

  • Victoria’s first alcohol and other drugs therapeutic rehabilitation day program designed by and implemented for First Nations people.
  • Piloted a new model of rural healthcare using travelling nurse practitioners in a large area with low GP numbers.
  • A student-led podiatry care clinic in Albury that aims to build connections between a university and local providers while helping to address workforce challenges.
  • Supporting networking to reduce rural isolation in primary health providers.
  • Helping residential aged care homes access virtual primary health services where face-to-face care is not available.
