When Katie Reece had lunch with three other friends at the Railway Hotel in Seymour, she did not expect a generous gift from a fellow patron.

“We were having lunch, and he said we reminded him of his mum,” she said.

“He had tears in his eyes and put $200 on the table.”

She said they tried not to accept the money at the time but were very grateful.

“He said, ‘I’ll pay for your lunch’,” she said.

“Whatever’s left, have a play at the pokies.”

She said the man, who might have been a tradie, didn’t leave his name or any contact information.

“We really just want to thank him from the bottom of our hearts,” she said.

“We asked the staff at the Railway Hotel, and they didn’t know who he was.”

A social media post by her friend mentioned that the group reminded the man of his mother because going out for lunch was something she loved to do.

Now, Ms Reece and her friends are looking for the man who paid for their lunch on Wednesday, November 29 to thank him.
