Nathan Bibby appointed to lead tourism growth

Nathan Bibby is looking forward to taking on the executive role at Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism and Business in February.

Nathan Bibby, a local with an impressive background in leadership, has been appointed as the new executive officer for Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism and Business (YMTB).

Over recent months the board engaged in an “exhaustive” campaign to find the right leader for YMTB to develop and implement their strategic plans while ensuring the stability and sustainability of the organisation.

Mr Bibby, who will start in the role in early February, brings an impressive background in building government, private, and not-for-profit organisations. He has spent the last four years with Goulburn Murray Community Leadership (GMCL).

“Working with community, listening and designing responses is key to my leadership style,” Mr Bibby said.

“Much of my work to date has centred around delivering evidence-based service delivery in partnership with community, government, stakeholders and business,” he said.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Bibby added, “In considering the role, I was impressed by the direction the Yarrawonga Mulwala Business and Tourism Board are heading to add value and support the economic development of a thriving Yarrawonga Mulwala.

“The bonus about this opportunity is our family love living here and now I get the chance to directly contribute to our amazing region.

“We used to come back to Yarrawonga Mulwala all the time and my partner is from here, so it was an easy decision to relocate and settle here.

“We are pretty entrenched in the community and with local sporting clubs,” he said.

President of YMTB Michael Coldham commented on the appointment, saying, “Nathan's skills and work history made him a standout candidate and we welcome him to the position”.

Mr Coldham said that over the past year, the YMBT Board established a new strategic plan, leading to several initiatives.

These include securing a three-year contract with Moira Shire Council to support events and contribute to the operations of the Visitor Information Centre.

YMTB aims to maintain and grow the Yarrawonga-Mulwala region as a premier tourism destination, ensuring a sustainable and well-supported economy.

Nathan's immediate priorities include engaging with stakeholders, utilising the talents of YMTB staff, and working with the YMCL Board to establish short and long-term deliverables.
