Seven new art installations by Yorta Yorta artist Tammy-Lee Atkinson are set to brighten towns in Greater Shepparton this year.

Tatura, Tallygaroopna, Merrigum and Toolamba will each receive a small wall mural, and Mooroopna, Murchison and Dookie will have an existing park bench revitalised with art.

Ms Atkinson is an artist with Kaiela Arts and designed the Super Netball 2021 Indigenous Round dresses for the Melbourne Vixens.

She also created the mural on the side of the stage near the Victoria Park Lake skate park in Shepparton.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said the community and council were excited to partner with Ms Atkinson to design artworks incorporating the community’s connection to land, water and nature.

“We look forward to seeing these new pieces of art commissioned around our small towns to brighten up the areas, recognise our connections and create points of attraction around the region,” he said.

Community planning groups were invited to apply for funding for an art installation in their community through Greater Shepparton City Council’s community plan implementation fund.

The installation of the artworks is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
