Australia Post are changing the way children send their letters to Santa this Christmas.

Rather than using the mailbox, children are encouraged to pop into their neighbourhood Post Office to personally deliver their letters to Santa.

Rather than wait a few weeks for a reply, they'll receive an on-the-spot reply from the North Pole and a Christmas Pip the Koala ornament for their Christmas tree.

Executive general manager of retail, brand and marketing Josh Bannister said Australia Post are looking forward to seeing the excited children.

“Santa has asked for our help this year, and we’re thrilled to be part of the magic,” he said.

“We can’t wait to see the excitement on kids' faces as they hand over their letters and receive their reply from the North Pole.”

Little ones who have already posted their letters can still swing by the post office to collect their letter and gift from Santa.

Children have until Tuesday, December 24 to get drop their letters into the post office.
