Brendan Lewis has joined the team at the Cobram Courier as its advertising representative and brings to the role not only business sales experience but a sound knowledge of the local area.

Brendan relocated from Yarrawonga to the Cobram area in December 2023 and has been working for the past six years as a sales representative for two local businesses, Water Dynamics in Yarrawonga and Eagle Machinery, Finley.

Since starting his role at the Courier, Brendan has taken the time to have a good look around Cobram, meeting and chatting with business people.

He can undeniably see the positivity that the new supermarket development offers the township.

“When something like this comes to town, it’s called growth,” he said.

“Once the development is complete with a brand-new supermarket and adjoining array of shops and businesses it should benefit Cobram’s people and business owners, substantially.

“It will attract more shoppers from out of town and hopefully encourage them to spend their hard-earned dollars.”

Brendan firmly believes that Cobram’s biggest asset and continuing potential is the fact that it comprises a strong multicultural community.

“I grew up near Yarrawonga after moving with my family to the area more than 25 years ago and while it is certainly larger, it does not have the feel of Cobram which draws you into it,” he said.

“Yarrawonga does have the lake, but when you look at Thompsons Beach and the beauty of the Murray River, is there really any comparison?”

Brendan loves to immerse himself in his community and came across from Yarrawonga Cricket Club to play and coach Barooga Cricket Club in the 2022/23 season. He has more recently taken on the role of Junior Development officer.

The fit 31-year-old is also playing football at Barooga and is grateful that both he and his young son Tyler have been so warmly welcomed at the club.

Brendan is passionate about being the best version of himself in anything he does, including his working life.

He is keen to discuss with advertisers what they want and need from their local paper and happy to work with them while offering some new ideas and advice.

Brendan can be contacted Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm on 5872 1144.
