Weekends in Kialla just got a little bit sweeter.

Talwinde Singh is the proud owner of Ice Cream Mates, a new food van that sets up shop in Kialla on the weekends, ready to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ice Cream Mates opened at the end of August after Mr Singh decided to bring an ice-cream shop to Kialla in an accessible location.

“Most of the ice-cream shops are in Shepparton … I wanted to do something (in Kialla),” he said.

“Sometimes people don’t have a car, so they could just walk.”

Ice Cream Mates sells various flavours of ice-cream, but what sets it apart from other ice-cream shops is that it also sells açai bowls, with different types of toppings available to put on both.

After living in Greater Shepparton for 10 years, Mr Singh said he wanted to bring a piece of Melbourne to the region after seeing busy food trucks in the city sell the super-food.

The “small family business” is a side hustle for Mr Singh, who works as a bus driver throughout the week.

He said the new venture was going well and hoped the upcoming warmer weather, perfect for a cold sweet treat, would attract even more customers.

You can find the Ice Cream Mates van at 8020 Goulburn Valley Hwy, Kialla, from 5pm to 10pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
