New lockers and pump for Corowa Rescue Squad

Corowa Rescue Squad members Jim Walliss, Craig Salmon, Naomi Robb (also Club Corowa staff), Taz Slot, Ben Wilson, and Nathan Cranston proudly display the $17,772.60 grant cheque which will fund essential equipment upgrades for the squad.

Corowa Rescue Squad will be able to enhance their equipment and improve their response capabilities in critical situations thanks to a $17,772.60 grant from Club Corowa.

The grant, approved as part of the ClubGRANTS program, will specifically fund the purchase of two essential items: new lockers for the squad members and a replacement pump for the small cutter used in motor vehicle accident rescues.

The current lockers used by the Corowa Rescue Squad are outdated, rusted, and too narrow to accommodate the necessary rescue equipment and protective clothing.

The new lockers, made possible by this grant, will be larger and better suited to store the squad’s gear, including the additional equipment required for their newly certified flood rescue operations.

This upgrade will ensure that the rescue team has quick and easy access to their gear, a crucial factor when time is of the essence in life-threatening situations.

Additionally, the grant will fund the replacement of the squad’s old hand-operated pump used with the small cutter, a tool vital for freeing trapped individuals in motor vehicle accidents.

The current pump is outdated and inefficient, often requiring another team member to spend valuable minutes operating it manually.

The new pump, compatible with the squad’s existing larger cutting equipment, will deliver instant hydraulic power, drastically reducing rescue times and allowing the squad to respond more effectively in tight or confined spaces.

Corowa Rescue Squad President Taz Slot expressed her gratitude on behalf of the emergency organisation.

“We are incredibly grateful for Club Corowa’s generous and ongoing support,” she said.

“Their commitment to our squad directly benefits the entire community by enabling us to purchase the best equipment available and respond more effectively in emergencies.”

Club Corowa CEO Peter Norris said the club was pleased to be able to assist the rescue squad through this grant.

“We are incredibly proud to supporting the Corowa Rescue Squad with this grant. Their dedication to saving lives and serving our community is truly commendable,” he said.

“These ClubGRANTS are just one of the many ways Club Corowa can provide support, services, and facilities for the betterment of our local community.

“We are pleased to contribute to the safety and well-being of our community by aiding the Corowa Rescue Squad in acquiring the equipment they need to save lives.”

ClubGRANTS is one of Australia’s largest grant programs, providing over $100 million in cash annually to various worthy causes across NSW.

Charities, sporting organisations, and not-for-profit community groups are among the tens of thousands of recipients each year.

Since its inception, the program has provided over $1 billion in funding, making it one of the most significant and impactful grants programs in Australia. The program is made possible through the collective efforts of NSW clubs, local councils, and the NSW Government.
