Author Simon Rowell’s new novel — a compelling crime thriller based in Echuca-Moama — will be hitting the shelves this January.
Wild Card is a gripping mystery about gang warfare and small-town corruption, featuring Detective Sergeant Zoe Mayer and her trusty service dog, Harry.
Ideal for fans of Garry Disher, Adrian Hyland and Chris Hammer, the novel commences with the discovery of the body of a bikie from Moama.
Despite Det Sgt Mayer’s every effort to track down the murderer, she finds herself stonewalled at every turn.
Wild Card is the second instalment in a series of crime novels that follows the protagonist Det Sgt Zoe Mayer.
The first novel in the collection — published in 2021 — is based near Portsea, Victoria and follows the investigation of the death of a local surfer.
Mr Rowell has a strong connection to the Australian outback.
He lives in regional Victoria on a farm, has worked on rural oil rigs, managed nightclubs, been a tour guide and run successful marketing campaigns.
His novel The Echo of Others was long-listed for the Ned Kelly Award for Best First Crime in 2018.
