A new concept designed to provide local entertainment, boost tourism and support local makers and musicians has been born.

The inaugural Sanctuary Lane Twilight Marketta will be hosted next Friday, July 5 at Harry Pepper in End St.

Business owner and operator Adam Connolly said it is designed to showcase unique products, delicious food and musical talent.

Performing next week will be local band Anagram Riot, who were finalists in the Play on the Plains battle of the bands competition.

Mr Connolly said the long-term aim is to build the market so that it is large enough to fill Sanctuary Lane, which runs behind the coffee shop alongside the Deniliquin Island Sanctuary.

With that in mind, Mr Connolly has already started discussions with the Odesi Collective - a boutique event furniture and coffee van hire group. Other approvals will also be required.

The frequency of the market will depend on demand, with Mr Connolly suggesting it could be held monthly or fortnightly.
