New Year’s Eve house fire blazes during Fire Danger Period

Fireworks weren’t the only sparks visible on New Year’s Eve.

The CFA received a call at around 10.25pm reporting a house fire in Kobyboyn Rd, Whiteheads Creek.

Three CFA brigades were initially called to the fire and 10 CFA appliances attended from local and surrounding brigades.

Once crews arrived to the scene, the house was fully ablaze.

The fire was extinguished using with crews using hose lines and breathing apparatuses.

No injuries were sustained by members of the public or firefighters at the scene.

The origin of the blaze is still under investigation.

North East Region - District 12 CFA Commander Paul Brislin urged for the community to be aware of the importance of having working smoke alarms properly fitted in homes.

Fire restrictions are currently in place across CFA District 12, which encompasses the Mitchell and Murrindindi shires.
