Nineteen-year-old man charged over double-fatality crash in Tocumwal

A man has been charged following a double-fatality crash in Tocumwal.

Emergency services were called to Racecourse Rd following reports a Ford Ranger and a Toyota Hilux had collided, about 2.30pm on Sunday, July 14.

NSW Ambulance attended, however the 55-year-old female driver of the Hilux and a 54-year-old male passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old male driver of the Ranger was treated for serious internal injuries. He was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District established a crime scene, with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commencing an investigation.

About 10.30am on Friday, July 19, the 19-year-old male attended Finley Police Station where he was arrested and charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and two counts of negligent driving occasioning death.

The man’s license was suspended.

He was granted bail to appear before Finley Local Court on Tuesday, August 27.
