Ninety-year-old attacked in broad daylight in Shepparton

An elderly woman has been left traumatised and afraid to leave her own home after a brazen attack on a Shepparton street in broad daylight.

Shepparton police First Constable Chelsea Smith said the 90-year-old woman was walking on Corio St when a man rode past on a bicycle and grabbed her handbag at about 10am on Tuesday, June 18.

The woman was knocked to the ground in the tussle.

The woman was walking with another friend on the western side of Corio St, just north of the Vaughan St intersection, when the incident occurred.

The man was riding north on Corio St.

The 90-year-old received a haematoma on the back of her head and a graze on one arm, which still requires attention.
