A woman and her children were lucky to avoid serious injury when a tree branch landed on her car in Benalla on Friday, February 3.

The incident occurred when Meg Cooper was driving home on Mansfield Rd, Benalla, around 5.30pm.

Emergency service personnel, including CFA, police and ambulance rushed to the scene, however despite Ms Cooper suffering some cuts in the incident, there were no serious injuries.

Ms Cooper’s car however was badly damaged and had to be towed away.

In a Facebook post Ms Cooper thanked all those who came to her assistance, including members of the public who comforted her and her children.

“My twin boys are okay and my daughter, whilst very shaken, is okay now too,” the post read.

Benalla police thanked the community for assisting until emergency services arrived on the scene.
