Three businesses represented Deniliquin and district at the NSW Business Awards this week, but unfortunately none came home with a trophy.
Winning their way through to the state awards were the Deniliquin Business Chamber in Outstanding Local Chamber, Deniliquin Play on the Plains Pty Ltd for Excellence in Small Business and SunRice for Excellence in International Business.
They were nominated as a result of win at the Riverina Murray Business Awards, where they were among 13 local nominees.
The Excellence in Small Business award went to SAPHI Engineering, Byron Bay Chamber of Commerce won best chamber and Whiteley won the Excellence in International Business award, plus the coveted Business of the Year.
The ceremony was held Wednesday night in Sydney, at the International Convention Centre.
Chamber CEO Kate Pitt attended the evening with chamber member Iain Goodway, and Deni Play on the Plains general manager Vicky Lowry and employee Katie Taylor.
“We were very proud to be at the state awards representing our fabulous businesses and community,” Ms Pitt said.
“We were surrounded by lots of other Riverina Murray regional winners, so we were in great company.
“We are so appreciative of the support that DBC received to get to this level, especially from Edward River Council who have backed us all the way.
“It is a credit to our passionate and hard working volunteer chamber committee that we achieve such great results.”
