Mitchell Shire Council’s Australia Day committee is calling for nominations for the 2023 Australia Day Awards.

The awards and citizenship ceremony will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Seymour.

The awards are a chance to celebrate the achievements of individuals or local groups and organisations that service the community.

Anyone can place a nomination. When making the submission provide information on how the nominee fits the selection criteria, their dedication or service and achievements.

The five categories for the awards are access and inclusion, citizen of the year, young citizen of the year, online or community event of the year and community group of the year.

Mayor Bill Chisholm said the awards were a fantastic way to recognise the efforts of a community-minded group or individual.

“Rarely do our community champions get a chance to stand in the spotlight and be thanked for the unpaid work they do that our whole society relies on,” he said.

Nominations close at 9am on Wednesday, October 26.

To nominate or view the details for each sub-category, including selection criteria, go to www.mitchellshire.vic.gov.au/nominate or phone council on 5734 6200.
