If you hear historic cars rumbling through town next week, do not be alarmed – it’s only the Victorian Veteran Car Rally.

The Veteran Car Club of Victoria will be roaring through the Kyabram area from Thursday to Sunday this week, putting on a display of 25 cars that all predate 1919 in their annual rally.

The event has been ongoing for more than 10 years with different organisers taking turns – this year the role has been handed to David Boyd.

“The day is expected to run smoothly as it always does, with no reason to think otherwise,” Mr Boyd said.

“We’re expecting over 50 people and 25 cars, all pre-dating 1919 – making them all over 100 years old.”

A veteran vehicle is a mechanically-propelled vehicle manufactured prior to 1919, so Kyabram motor enthusiasts can expect to witness a piece of history.

It will not just be a treat for onlookers — those who are a part of the rally will be taking a tour of the northern Victorian region.

Commencing on Thursday, April 18, the group will start with a “shake down run” to Tongala and will explore the award-winning Tongala Art Trail.

The weekend only gets more exciting from there, with the rally visiting Tatura on Friday morning, Murchison Friday afternoon, Rushworth on Saturday morning, Colbinabbin and Rochester in the afternoon and Girgarre on Sunday morning.
