The cast of Notre Dame College’s production Legally Blonde: The Musical were putting the finishing touches on their performance on Tuesday ahead of opening night.

The musical is taking over Riverlinks Westside in Mooroopna from Thursday, July 14 to Saturday, July 16 with four spectacular shows.

Director Casey Fogarty said it was exciting for many of those involved to be back on stage for the first time in a few years.

“Last year our shows got cancelled on opening night, so it makes it all the more fulfilling to see this show through to performance,” she said.

Based on the 2001 film Legally Blonde, the story follows Elle Woods (Klara Fennell) who charms her way into Harvard Law School to try to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner.

Along the way, she makes some new friends, including Emmett Forrest (Callum Hearn), and begins to realise her own potential.

“It’s an action-packed show full of dynamic songs and dances, with some amazing performances from our very talented young cast,” Ms Fogarty said.

“For some students it’s their very first production and for others this is one of many they’ve done.

“We’ve had past students come back to assist behind the scenes, which is always great, and we’re excited to have four student choreographers who have tackled this show and done an amazing job with all the dances.

“Along with the fantastic dancing and singing, we’ve got some fabulous musicians in the orchestra pit playing live — staff, current and past students and some of the best musicians from the Goulburn Valley.”
