NSW local government election postal vote applications open

Applications for postal voting in the NSW local government elections have opened.

The NSW local council election, which includes Murray River Council, will be on Saturday, September 14.

You may be eligible for postal voting if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • Will be outside your ward or council area;
  • Will be more than 8km from a polling place;
  • Will be travelling;
  • Are seriously ill, disabled or approaching childbirth (or caring for someone who is);
  • Have religious beliefs that prevent you from attending;
  • Are in prison or a correctional centre;
  • Will be working;
  • Are a silent elector. Note: You must already be registered with the AEC as a silent elector;
  • Are a person with a disability;
  • Believe that attending will pose a risk to your personal safety or the safety of your family.

Applications for postal votes opened on Tuesday, August 6, and must be received by 5pm on Monday, September 9.

While ballot papers must be completed on election day by 6pm, they also must be received no later than 6pm on Friday, September 27.
